    But those instructions are incomplete. You'd need a bit of prior knowledge or further web searching to try to work out how to do it if you've never used the terminal before. So do you mean it's the best way for you?

    If you are on 16.04 or later, the Snap back-end is already installed on your system by default. If for some reason your system does not have it installed, see here: https://docs.snapcraft.io/core/install-ubuntu

    Kubuntu is Ubuntu. Snaps install just fine. And there's a debian package: https://www.spotify.com/us/download/linux/

    Spotify have now updated their installation instructions to include snaps and Ubuntu Software manager installs. But still no easy solution for Kubuntu. Like a downloadable .deb. But you can install the Gnome Software application and install Spotify from there.

    Just install snapd from the repository. If it gives you an error like mine did (because it was masked and dead) just purge it and reinstall it.
    Then use the snap magic words to install spotify.
