Issues with Thunderbird - Kubuntu 17.04. clean installation

Hello,

I have serious issues with Thunderbird under Kubuntu 17.04., which I have had never experienced before.

1. Repositories offer version 45.8.0, but the newest version available is 52.1.1. Is there a repository offering newest version available? I don't want to update it manually every time.

2. I cannot proceed with gmail account verification, as there's simply no reaction when I press "Continue". It seems the problem with older version, as I can do it easily with the newest version.

Note that it will be labeled "Beta", but I've never had an issue with it. Otherwise you'd have to download and compile a more recent version yourself, as the Thunderbird "Stable" PPA was removed some time ago, for whatever reason.
