Discover does not show 17.04 update

    HI,
First this may not be in the right forum. Please advise if not. Running 16.10 fully updated. Don't see option I used to see saying what type of distribution updates desired. I don't see 17.04 as an option to update. Also tried sudo apt-get dist-upgrade, nothing was given to do. Obviously I am missing something, right? thanks for the help.

    Upgrade

If for some reason Discover does not offer you the upgrade to 17.04, but you know it is available, then you can open Krunner, or Konsole (or other terminal), and run:
    kdesudo "do-release-upgrade -m desktop -f DistUpgradeViewKDE"

Again, sudo will ask for your password to proceed.

Same problem here, but I am on 16.04, and the CLI line does not work either.

      kdesudo "do-release-upgrade -m desktop -f DistUpgradeViewKDE"

On Xenial 16.04 the upgrade path will be either to Yakkety 16.10 (or 18.04 LTS when that comes out next year).

        16.04 --> 17.04 direct upgrades are not possible/supported.

Furthermore, the default release upgrade mode on 16.04 is to look for a new LTS release, so unless you change that, the check-new-release script will not see any new release available yet.

If you want to upgrade to Yakkety 16.10 from 16.04, you will need to change that setting:

            do-release-upgrade -c

            Shows 17.04 available for me.

Thx, I was not able to use discover as stated in the link, because the advanced settings are not there.
Instead when looking for plasma-discover, I stumpled upon update manager.
Installing update mgr uninstalled discover, and in update mgr/advanced settings, I was able to set upgrades to normal instead of LTS.
Then I first upgraded to 16.10, and immediately after to 17.04

                kdesudo software-properties-kde

is the command to run in that case, instead of installing the GTK based update-manager.

However, what works for you works.
