Wireless dropping out but not disconnecting

Hey all

I have had an issue with my laptop's wireless dropping out when I'm doing anything download heavy, it does not actually disconnect just comes to a stand still and web pages etc fail to load.

I don't really know what information you need from me but the laptop is an ASUS X550JX.

As root create a file called 'rtl8821ae.conf" in /etc/modprobe.d/" and add the following

no, don't have a wire connection. I use my mobile phone as a hot spot. It has unlimited 4G+ connection with an average of download 30 Mbps ans upload of average 25 Mbps.

firstly, just a reminder:

Be aware that your tethering allowance isn't the same as your data plan. For instance, T-Mobile's unlimited data plans come with a 5GB tethering allowance. You can use as much data as you want on your phone, but once you attach a laptop, it's 5GB for the month.

if that's not your case, enter the command nmcli monitor, then start downloading, wait for it to hang, and post the output from the console, if any.

if there's nothing, post the output of nmcli connection.

I'm having exactly the same problem. I created the rtl8821ae.conf in /etc/modprobe.d/ and added the 4 options listed.

I then rebooted and I'm still having connectivity issues.

I ran nmcli monitor and nmcli connection

Your wireless chip is an rt5390

I don't know if there is a driver for it.

Does "modinfo rt5390" give anything?
