With Kubuntu 17.04 beta 1 :
Boot on usb stick : OK
Graphic card : OK
Touchscreen : OK
Brightness : KO
Sound : KO
Volume/Power buttons : OK
Speaker : KO
Detachable keyboard : OK
Touchpad : OK
Power Off/Reboot : OK
Suspend : OK
Lid switch : OK
Battery/Charge : KO
Wifi : OK
Bluetooth : OK
Rear/front Camera : KO
Pen : KO


With Kubuntu 17.04 beta 2 :
Boot on usb stick : KO
Graphic card : ?
Touchscreen : ?
Brightness : ?
Sound : ?
Volume/Power buttons : ?
Speaker : ?
Detachable keyboard : ?
Touchpad : ?
Power Off/Reboot : ?
Suspend : ?
Lid switch : ?
Battery/Charge : ?
Wifi : ?
Bluetooth : ?
Rear/front Camera : ?
Pen : ?

I hope this kubuntu version will support the Surface 3 in the stable version

I do not have your Microsoft surface pro, but when I install a new system, I find it useful to enter the code without the comments in the following:

ubuntu-drivers devices          :lists packages for installation
sudo ubuntu-drivers autoinstall ;installs listed packages

This may give you some useful information to work with. Hopefully there will be someone else to give help if this does not work for you.
