steam fails to run after installer finishes

I downloaded and installed steam but it failed to start after installation. I tried launching from the KDE menu but no start. I just thought to try running from the Konsole. I will try that and see what it says...

    Code:
    steve7233@steve7233-HP-Pavilion-dv6-Notebook-PC:~$ steam
Running Steam on ubuntu 16.10 64-bit
    STEAM_RUNTIME is enabled automatically

Just to remind users and devs that Ubuntu and its flavors have a long way to go to be as usr friendly as they should be.

                The name is steam-launcher
You can put stea in the search bar and it will be displayed.

Thanks vinney,GreyGeek the problem is now solved. You would think that the steam / Linux devs would be embarrassed to learn that their package doesn't work, but Ubuntu's package will work!

Downloading Transport Fever -launched last month -to my lap top. Unfortuntly, their is no steam cloud support yet. I can't play the same game on my WindoZe box and on my Linux box... Well not easily anyway.

Correction Transport Fever released on Nov 8th. I was thinking of Civilization VI which released on October 25th.

Steam's Universe Sandbox^2 is an awesome program! I also enjoy Castle Story. I showed my 10 yr old Grandson Portal. He operated it intuitively, playing it and figuring out solutions faster than I could think.
