    Install- HP-ENVY-5530 Series

I tried searching but need to print something right away so sorry If there is a thread. Can someone please tell me how to hook it up via WI FI? I hope I don't need a USB cable as I don't have a big to big just big to little which won't work.

I got it! I fiddle with the printers menu until I figured out how to connect it to my Network. I then used to cups utility from the KDE menu to locate it using the Xfinity gateway. HP-setup was not any help. Some people might still use it so I would leave it in Kubuntu for now. Nice that HP printers have gotten so user friendly. I just hope the Scanner and other things are working now.

No scanners found. Perhaps xsane can't see wireless scanners or maybe a command and or switch is needed.

I tried using the GIMP but that Ubuntu package appears to be badly broken! I ran it from the konsel and got a lot of errors during start up. It could be the old missing firmware problem that some computers have due to a known linux kernel bug that was thought to have been debugged in the new kernels but has retured in some newer kernels! Maybe if I download 17.04 if it's ready then burn it to a disk and do a clean install. Hopefully things will work properly.

Using hplip doesn't work for me since it requires a usb cable that i don't have. I am using cups since that doesn't require a usb cable. My XFINITY gateway has a WPS button and my printer can use that to connect wirlessly to my gateway then I can use cups add printer to add the wireless printer. CUPS doesn't seem to set up the scanner.

To connect your printer in wi-fi you need to so some setting in the printer control panel.

                  1. press the wireless icon after turning on the printer. (summary screen will appear)
                  2. select setting and select wireless setup wizard

then follow the wizard and give necessary details. Now you are connected with your router.
