    WiFi without Kwallet?

Been trying to install a wifi device and it keeps telling me I have to have Kwallet involved.
I had it going once but it kept asking for a password at startup.
I kept messing with it until it finally just wouldn't start at all. I'm hooked up now with a hardline.

I don't remember it being this hard before.

Not a big fan of kwallet. After making sure I didn't have anything actually saved to a wallet, I shut kwallet down and uninstalled it. Wifi works fine.

There may be a lot of pushback from others about the virtues of kwallet, or using kwallet without a kwallet password, but that's O.K. - I don't use it.

    Life is good.

      Great. Thank You.
What's the command for deleting it?

It's a brand new install so there's nothing in there

        Something is wrong.
This is a fresh install of Kubuntu 16.04 and I am having a heck of a time getting my wifi card working.

I got to looking around and noticed that unlike my other Optiplex 990 with Kubuntu 16.04 I do no have Network Tools.
I tried to install it and keep getting this message...

The following packages have unmet dependencies:

gnome-nettool: Depends: libgtop-2.0-10 (>= 2.22.3) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: nmap but it is not going to be installed
Depends: whois but it is not going to be installed

it seems to be a problem with other networking programs too.
Maybe this is why I can't get my WiFi to work

My hardline network is working fine

What's the actual package name for "Network Tools"?

So I tried to install libgtop-2.0-10 and it did not work.

            greg@Gregs-OptiPlex-990:~$ sudo apt-get install libgtop-2.0-10

Package libgtop-2.0-10 is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source

E: Package 'libgtop-2.0-10' has no installation candidate
            greg@Gregs-OptiPlex-990:~$

            What "other source"?

I got the message from Ubuntu Software Center by just pecking in Network Tools
              Same with Synaptic

If you have a "fresh install of Kubuntu 16.04" how come you have Ubuntu Software Center?

Just tried my WiFi card on Win 7 and it works fine.
Maybe The Kubuntu boys should work on their WiFi applications?

Check System > System Settings > Driver Manager to see if there is a driver available but not activated.

Nope. It just says something about using intel drivers with a check box that is not checked

Use Synaptic, or Muon, and search for wifi to find Kubuntu wifi tools.

The uninstall for kwallet I used on the command line was:
                          Code:
                          sudo apt-get remove --purge kwalletmanager
You should be able to use Synaptic, also, for that.

I shouldn't say this because surely it will jinx it.
Apparently Kubuntu has no time for my Linksys WMP54GS PCI card, although Win 7 likes it.
I plugged in a really cheap USB WiFI dongle and with a little stuttering, has come to life.

I will now reboot and see if it continues to work
