Lost my active apps

I screwed up something and can't figure out how to unscrew it.
It was that I could see any applications that were currently active on the panel and I could move them around and change their order.
Usually it was just Firefox and Thunderbird. The quick start icons are still down there (left side) but it doesn't show that they are running.
I also lost my clock (right side) at the same time.

What did I do and how can I undo it?

Likely you lost or accidentally removed some of the widgets on your panel, such as the clock and the Task Manager.
If you right click somewhere in an empty region of the panel, you can use the Add Widgets function to bring up the list, and drag them onto it.
