Mouse Behavior is Funky after Update

I'm having trouble with left-click selecting. If I want to grab a window by the title bar and drag it, it can take several tries to get the window to select and drag. If I want to highlight and copy text, nearly every time the text will de-select when I release the left mouse button. If clicking a toggle type button, it will frequently return to its original state. I.E., if it is "on" and I click to turn it "off," it ends up "on" again. Launching applications from an icon often results in two or three applications being opened.

I've looked at the mouse controls in system settings, but I don't see much that seems related to the problem. The double click interval was at 400 msec. I've tried changing to 800 and 200, but the same it didn't make a difference. Drag start time is 500 msec. "Double-click to open files and folders" is selected.

    Any ideas?

Definitely sounds like a defective mouse to me. I've got one that was behaving like that, a cheapo Logitech. If I was super positive with my clicking and pushed hard, it was ok. It only seemed to play up after a long session.

Conceivably, there's a connection issue. On wired mice after several years of use by some people the wires near the mouse where the cable bends start to fail.

Best mouses I've ever owned are TECKNET. Cost between $7-10 and work great. They go to sleep to save battery life (one of mine lasted a year on the supplied battery). I currently have two of them. I did have one quit working after 3 years. Well worth $7 - just buy 2 and have a backup!

Could be. I've never had one fail before. I'll try replacing the mouse.
