    Discover not showing any packages

    Hi,

I know that there has been issue with Discover search previously but I did an update on Thursday (8/12/2016) and after that Discover doesn't show any packages at all, including Installed ones.

I have tried a complete removal via Synaptic, no chance.

I have tried a complete removal of Muon and a re-install, still no change.

I've tried running sudo update-apt-xapian-index, still no change.

    I've run out of ideas.

I am running Kubuntu 16.04 and Plasma 5.6.2.

    Help please.

Open a konsole and check for the presence of a /etc/sources.list file. If it's not present, check for a /etc/sources.list.save file.

Chances are they are both gone, depending on what you did with a "complete" removal. If you had any added sources, other than what is defaulted, you'll have to add those back in.

If neither one is present, you will need to configure one via Muon or Discover. I use Muon Package Manager, so in that program go to Settings -> Configure Software Sources. If the sources.list.save file is present, you should be able to open and save it as the sources.list file in sudo using a text editor like nano or gedit.

      Hi.

Thanks. I checked and there was no /etc/sources.list or /etc/sources.list.save either.

I went into Muon and checked in Configure. All the things I expected to see were there. I don't have any problem finding software in Muon, just in Discover. I did uncheck everything, close Configure and then open it again and re-add the sources. There still aren't any sources files in /etc and Discover still isn't working.

Weirdly, though, on closer inspection, Discover does show entries for Fonts and Widgets, but nothing else.

Thanks for the help, but my problem continues.

I loaded Discover but it didn't show anything, so I deleted the entries in source.list and ran Muon, which rebuilt the indexes and loaded Discover again.

Now it is all back to normal. Thanks for your help.

I'm having the same issue, and filed a bug yesterday about it: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=376252 (already closed as duplicate).
I did not understand what to do to get discover to display software. I have a /etc/apt/sources.list file, but changing it by hand and starting muon does not change anything in discover.
