    This is interesting

Just ran an update and dist-upgrade. One package available to upgrade: flashplugin-installer

The updated package was retrieved and installed, but there was a warning that user _apt couldn't access the downloaded file -- Permission denied. Whaaaa?

I've never seen this before. Why would user _apt be denied access to the file that apt itself downloaded? Is this a bug?

Many bug reports on this going back to January, but it seems sporadic and unpredictable, and afaik not fixed

I get it occasionally, but everything seems to install ok, so I've never looked into it further than that.

No problem when I upgraded it this afternoon.

        EDIT:
That was yesterday. At 11:30 CST, 11-13-16, I got the following error while doing an upgrade:

          Hi,
I don't mean to resurrect an old thread, but I think this is relevant and the thread isn't too old.
Anyway, I've been getting something similar to you guys.
A popup that says. "Failure to download extra data files. the following packages requested additional data downloads after package installation, but the data could not be downloaded or could not be processed.. ttf-mscorefonts-installer .. The download will be attempted again later, or you can try the download again now. Running this command requires an active internet connection."

when I click "Run this action now" I get this console output:
          ttf-mscorefonts-installer: processing...
          ttf-mscorefonts-installer: downloading http://downloads.sourceforge.net/corefonts/andale32.exe
          Err:1 http://downloads.sourceforge.net/corefonts/andale32.exe

          E: Failed to fetch https://iweb.dl.sourceforge.net/project/corefonts/the fonts/final/andale32.exe 404 Not Found

          E: Download Failed

I installed Wine yesterday maybe that is why it's trying to download mscorefonts.

          Anyone figure this out yet?

          Thanks,
          Ben
