    Lost And Found ?

    Kubuntu newbie here.
I'm really happy to have switched from Mint 17.3.
But, what the heck is "Lost & Found" and how does one get rid of the junk that is in it?
    Thanks.

    Got my answer.
Lost & Found is common for Unix like file systems. It is not a virus, it is where corrupted files go that cannot be recovered when the file system is checked for errors.

That's not entirely accurate (anymore). Lost & Found will have entries for items installed on your system that didn't include proper placement information -- where it should be included in the K Menu structure.
Windows no longer obstructs my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.

        Apples and Oranges?

Lost and found: Kmenu vs. lost+found: ext3/4

For menu entries in Kmenu, Snowhog is correct. If the OP is referring to the lost+found folder (not Lost & Found) in every ext3 and 4 filesystem, fsck deposits improperly deleted files there for review so you can see what's there and decide to properly delete them - or not.

Doesn't seem clear to me which one was being referred to. It's a good idea to be as technically specific as possible.

In either case, deleting the contents works.
