Annoyed with my bank re Java

My bank has a feature that lets you scan a check and then use that scan to make a deposit. Unfortunately, it's not working with Xenial Xerus. I get this:

A recent version of Java™ software is needed in order to continue. Please download an updated version.
For more information, review our Troubleshooting Tips.
If you click on the link they suggest it brings you to Java for Windows. I'm using Ubuntu's standard open source version of Java. Will I get better results if I switch to a propriety Java? Will the proprietary one create other problems? I guess I could Clonezilla this thing and try; then it would be easy to revert even if everything gets totally trashed.

The Deposit a Check feature on the bank's site works just fine with my Windows 7 PC. The frustrating thing is that I use Linux for better security online. I prefer not to even go online with my Windows PC, but they're forcing me to. I do have Kaspersky Internet Security on my Win 7 PC, which includes a feature named Secure Browser. However, the @#$% thing goes really slow. I have a nice and fast Kubuntu Linux PC, but my bank isn't letting me use it for what I want.
Kubuntu 22.04 (desktop & laptop), Windows 7 &2K (via VirtualBox on desktop PC)

That would be tough. I've been with them for over 25 years for both banking and auto insurance.

Trying the proprietary version of Java should not be a problem - just un-install OpenJRE and friends prior. If it doesn't work just reverse the process. According to the Wiki you can even have multiple versions of Java installed at the same time and choose the one to use. If using the proprietary version does not work for you, I would also try in Firefox with the User Agent set to Windows as the OS. Good luck!
