I am currently away from home-base and when I connected to the internet I could not Upgrade after successfully finding that there were about 190 updates to install.
The culprit was appstreamcli doing a lot of knitting but going nowhere
. I eventually found the solution at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...12/comments/24. To follow the solution, I had to reboot and follow the steps given at this site. Now all is working well and I look forward to seeing if the updates fix my outstanding problems with an external monitor.
I will be back late on the 2nd June and hope to see all the improvements.
