    No Wi-Fi

I already have 16.04.5 running on my laptop (HP Pavilion 64-bit). Wi-Fi is configured and working. The Driver Manager identified the needed driver and it was selected and setup, and a Wi-Fi connection was created in Network Manager.

I also have 16.04.5 dd'd to a USB stick. When I boot to it on this laptop, I first go to Driver Manager. It identifies the driver, I choose it, it gets loaded, and then I go to setup my Wi-Fi. I set it up with the exact same information in Network Manager that I use for Wi-Fi. But it won't start; the option to do so remains greyed out. What am I missing? Really confused.

probably something to do with it being a live USB and just a clone of the ISO and not set up with persistence.

check in the working system to see what module is loaded and then check in the live system to see if it's actually using the correct module or not .

A live system can be finicky about installing and using a driver
