Thanks for your prompt answer--that's one of the reasons I like this forum. I know this is probably basic Linux info, but I've been lazy about learning terminal commands (I usually just copy and paste what others say) and don't know the proper syntax for removing the 'usr repository'. Could I impose upon you one more time?

Click your mouse anywhere on your Desktop that doesn't have anything. Then just start typing: kdesudo kate /etc/apt/sources.list and press Enter. You will be prompted for your password. Kate (text editor) will launch with the file opened for editing. Find the deb http://archive.neon.kde.org/usr xenial main line and either delete it or just put a # in from of it so it looks like this:
#deb http://archive.neon.kde.org/usr xenial main
Save and close Kate. Done.Windows no longer obstructs my view.

I agree, this place is awesome. It is part of my daily reading, and I have learned a lot. Most importantly, I have learned how generous people can be with their time and knowledge. I first started using Linux in 2009 (Ubuntu gnome) and went to Kubuntu a year later. Now I am trying KDE Neon on top of Kubuntu 16.04, and I'm doing this mainly because I trust the people on this forum to help get me through any difficulties I may have. Once again, I thank all those who have kept me firmly in the Linux community.
