As the title says Kmail does not launch after upgrading to Kubuntu 16.04. I did an online upgrade from 64 bit 15.10. Now, when I either click on the kmail desktop icon or menu selection, nothing seems to happen. I tried launching it from a terminal, and again nothing seemed to happen, and there were no error messages. Has anyone else had this happen or have any idea what's going on?

"solution"
The same happened to me, after having done the same update from 15.10 to 16.04 today. I created a new user account to check if it was a generic problem of my installation, but for that user kmail works fine. So I suspect there is something wrong with upgrading the data format.
Then I noticed that a kmail process was running invisibly ($pgrep kmail). So I tried the following, and it helped. I can not tell whether all of it was required.
Code:akonadictl stop pkill kmail akonadictl start kmail

Hi
Please, look at this: http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.comp.kd ... .pim/23269
I had the same problem. Just unchecked the "empty trash on exit" option and Kmail returned to normal operation.
Sorry for my bad English. I I do not fully mastered that language.
