Acer Aspire 3 Freezes

Installing Kubuntu on a new Acer Aspire 3 using the entire disk, overwriting the Windows 10 and it's various partitions, completes without issue. After the installation the system boots as expected. When using Firefox or Google Chrome, however, the system freezes and won't even allow switching to a console to terminate whichever process(es) are hanging. The same problem occurs with all Ubuntu flavors. Does anyone have any advice?

You will need to use at least the 4.8 kernel, or higher, to use that GPU. Which means that you'll need Kubuntu 17.10 or Linux Mint 18.1

PS - It's no consolation, but I see posts of lots of Win10 users having trouble with that GPU
