    mouse clic does double clic

Hi, when I make one click with the mouse, the GUI buttons, menus, etc. react as they were double clicked.
I increased the delay for double click to 2000 ms, but it does nothing. The behaviour is the same with KDE, LXDE or at login.
How could I find informations ?
    Thank you

Mouse info? Brand and model at least...

cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log |grep mouse should show us what mouse driver is in use.

If it happens all the time - two different desktop environments and even with the boot manager - I would suspect the hardware. There may be a way to fix it in xorg.

You can test the mouse by opening Konsole, running xev, position your mouse in the white box, click each button, and then observing the "press" and "release" events as the scroll by.

Still, the brand and model number of the device might help reveal some similar complaints. Also the connection type - wired, wireless, bluetooth, et al.

FYI, most of the occurrences of this are hardware caused - a broken mouse.

Does your computer also have a touchpad?

Yeah, for sure it's your mouse at fault.

I've had a couple of mice go this way over the years and it's really annoying and downright dangerous at times. Don't waste time with it ... just dump it.

Yeah, that was the case for me, many times, in fact: a broken mouse mechanism. In my case, this is easy as I simply use wired Logitech mice--just $10 and your back on the road again.

There is/was a mouse setting for single/double-click behavior. Has that been looked at?
