Radeon R9 380 plus tvtime equals No XVIDEO port found which supports YUY2 images

Tvtime worked great on my old HD 6790.
After I changed graphic card to R9 380 tvtime cannot start with this error:

xvoutput: No XVIDEO port found which supports YUY2 images.

*** tvtime requires hardware YUY2 overlay support from your video card
*** driver. If you are using an older NVIDIA card (TNT2), then
*** this capability is only available with their binary drivers.

Update/upgrade including kernel didn't help.
I've installed amdgpu-pro driver from ATI site and that didn't help.
Then I did fresh install of 17.04 and the problem persits.
All posts on internet regarding this problem are from the past decade and didn' help me.
Help, please?

The posts are old because so is that hardware and software. It's likely a video driver problem, but try this:

Reboot and stop the grub boot timer. Go to the bootline using the "E" option in grub and add "nomodeset" in front of "quiet splash" with appropriate spaces. Then CTRL-X to continue the boot.

If it works, edit /etc/default/grub and add nomodeset there and run update-grub.

R9 380 bios is dated 2015/05, I would'nt call that old.
In fact older card worked flawlessly. I forget to mention that I tried nomodeset/update-grub/reboot, but no joy.
What bothers me is that I have same error on virgin Zesty beta (which works rock solid btw).

I have tried XUbuntu 16.04 and tvtime didn't work.
I have tried Manjaro (KDE) and tvtime works.
I'm guessing that error is on Debian side, but it doesn't matter anymore.
Manjaro 'Gellivara' it is, then.
