Software to download and manage images from Digital Camera

I am using Canon digital camera with USB connector to transfer images. To view them as slides and manage them I need a software.

I browsed and for my JVC mini DV I got clues and searched and installed Kdenlive. Seems to be exactly what I need. I must see if this will connect through fire-wire to my JVC DV camera.

Meanwhile I need a software to manage Canon images.

Any guidance will be highly appreciated.

Cannon Powershot, SX 610HS. It has wireless, USB connector connected to USB 3.0

Well, Gwenview is a good start (installed by default). However, if you need more features I think Digikam is pretty good, even for professionals.

Gimp is excellent for editing images if you need to do that.
Desktop PC: Intel Core-i5-4670 3.40Ghz, 16Gb Crucial ram, Asus H97-Plus MB, 128Gb Crucial SSD + 2Tb Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 HDD running Kubuntu 18.04 LTS and Kubuntu 14.04 LTS (on SSD).
Laptop: HP EliteBook 8460p Core-i5-2540M, 4Gb ram, Transcend 120Gb SSD, currently running Deepin 15.8 and Manjaro KDE 18.

      Thanks Rod J,
I will try them once again. I was looking for something like copy images from the camera, and manage the library of images. I have not really tried them for their full capability at batch process and slide view. I will Check now

Gimp Is good for editing images, I am getting a grip on Gimp after using Photopaint for almost 2 decades.

Yes, I wasted time looking for something without exploring possibilities of existing software.

Gwenview and Digikam will fulfill my requirement. I was trying to edit images and somehow images were getting loaded with these two applications when I started with Kubuntu. I got frustrated as Digicam is not enough for my style of work. Finally Discovered Gimp. Gimp is great. I have to relearn some things. I am used to assign shortcuts to all tools and work full screen. I was a beta tester for Corel for two of their release. I have Coral 9 and Coral 10 suits got free from Coral. I am getting used to Gimp and visit Gimp forum frequently.

        Thanks once again.

If you want to change a lot of images in a batch, say to make web optimized versions, I suggest you learn about imagemagick. An indispensable tool. http://www.imagemagick.org/

            Thank you jlittle,
I will try it today. We have three camera's and take a lot of photos. Need utilities to manage them.

            Thank you

            After two hours:
Installed Image Magic. For display and lots of quick fixes this is a good application. I took a photo of Peacock sitting on fence. I cannot send full resolution, quickly resized and sent it!

            Thanks Good app.
