just sits their "collecting information about the system" ,,,,,,,,,, and never dose .

the command ubuntu-drivers will work from the cli as a workaround

I was just posting as a FYI ,,,,,don't expect this thing to find drivers for you as of yet ,,,,,,,,,

but is good that this workaround is posted hear as well

This kind of annoying little thingies makes me hold on to 15.10, which does not give me trouble except for the little tray-icons going invisible on rare ocasions and the updates icon never going away after updates.

I have nvidia card. I wanted to install drivers.
It is stuck at Collecting information about your system.,
Now I used ubuntu-drivers autoinstall.
I hoped it would install nvidia driver.
It installed something, I don't know what.
Then I tried to use Steam, Steam doesn't work properly, cannot find graphic card.
Most probably drivers are not installed right.
I am so lucky I didn't install this on my game computer, because I wouldn't play any games, its obvious.

I use apt or apt-get to install drivers. If you're not using the proprietary gpu drivers ppa, then the latest nvidia driver package available on 16.04 is nvidia-361, so use

sudo apt install nvidia-361

. If you want nvidia-364, then add the ppa
