    Latest Updates broke Kontact

I installed Kubuntu 16.04-Beta1 on a test partition on my desktop a while ago. It has been performing well and quite stable. Yesterday there were a bunch of updates listed available by the updater. After installation and reboot Kontact (PIM) is non responsive through selection from the K menu. Running Kontact from konsol gives the following message:
    marco@Lenovo:~$ kontact
    kontact: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libKF5AkonadiCore.so.5:
    undefined symbol: _ZTIN7Akonadi8Protocol7CommandE
    marco@Lenovo:~$
I checked the indicated file. It exist as a binary file.

There are currently some version mismatches in kdepim packages in xenial (as some packages are still in xenial-proposed repository), you can either enable xenial-proposed and upgrade the packages or wait for the packages to land on xenial repository.

      I can confirm that.

I know better... I use sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade to update and didn't pay attention to this:
235 upgraded, 24 newly installed, 5 to remove and 1 not upgraded.

      So this got removed:
      Code:
The following packages will be REMOVED:
        libmuon muon muon-common pam-kwallet5 plasma-widget-kimpanel
I knew something was wrong when KMail and Kontact were missing from my favorites.

I found KMail in All Applications --> Office, tried to launch it, and got this:

I'll have to wait for the next round of updates to put it back together.
I'm glad this is just a VirtualBox guest!

Yes, kdepim is broken in the Xenial repos at the moment.

However, the staging-misc ppa has packages that are working...I can't live without my kdepim stuffs
Not sure how long before things move over to the standard repos.

Those removals are correct. pam-kwallet5 is now libpam-kwallet5, and the muon stuff is because muon package manager has no active maintainer and thus does not build - needs updating to plasma5/qt5/libdiscover (iirc)

            Thanks!
Since this is a test install, I will wait for the new updates to handle the issue.

This was resolved for me here.

I enabled the Pre-released updates and took all the updates.

              The usual warnings apply here...
This is a VirtualBox guest, so I can afford to be reckless.
I wouldn't use this for my main system, and I backup anything I can't afford to use.
              Use at your own risk.
