I have ignored this issue because there seems no consistency to it. However, it has survived a reinstall.
The advanced warning appears to be the System Tray 'Show Hidden Icons' and 'Networks' icons appearing on top of each other. Either pop-up menu can be obtained by clicking slightly to the left or the right of the overlapping icons. The system appears to work in most instances, but sometimes there is a string of repeated characters that appear in any selected text boxes such as browser address fields. Capital 'X's and '5's seem popular. I am certain it is not a keyboard fault. Sometimes the 'Run Command' window appears (Alt + Space) in order to display the stream of characters.
A shut-down and start or a reboot always gets rid of the problem and it does not appear again for many sessions. It's not a show-stopper because it is relatively rare. Has anyone else seen this strange behaviour?
