    Enable systemtray icons?

    Hello,

I'm new here, but I can't find it, where can I enable systemtray icons? When I installed aimp for example via playonlinux, no 'icon' will show. Another example, Skype will show in the systemtray. But how about other applications?

Right-click on the K Menu icon and click on Edit Applications... and locate the application(s) in question and click once to highlight. In the right pane check the Place in system tray box. When you are finished, click the Save icon and then click on File then Quit.

A windows program running via Wine (which is what Playonlinux is) may not be able to do this. There is no global setting for this, though some individual programs have settings for it.

It is possible that some of the things that are not showing tray icons are using the old xembed method of displaying them, which Plasma 5 dropped support for. Skype was one of the popular programs that had it go missing there, but they fixed it on their end it seems.

If Playonlinux/Wine or other programs are using xembed, there will not be a way to display them, until Plasma 5.5, where support has been added back.
