    LibreOffice File Dialog

The new LibreOffice is now installed.

The file dialog to open/write files is seriously broken and is totally unusable. It is impossible to even read the dialog and hence impossible to open or create new files.

Are any others having this problem??

The file dialog has been a problem for Libreoffice for about 3 or 4 versions now. The last version it was at least usable. It is now totally impossible to use and hence useless.

I would report a bug, but my past experience with bug reports highly discourages me from doing so. First there is the fact that I have to register with a new organization/web site which means a new user name, a new password (I already have, at last count over 300 of both) and the total is totally unmanagable, hence I refuse to play that game any more. Second I have posted over 30 or 40 bugs to various open source programs in the past, never had any feedback and have encountered the same bug in the next version or it would skip a version or 2. So I have decided that reporting bugs to the bugzilla site or other such sites is useless and a waste of my time. So please do not advise me to report a bug - it won't happen. I have reported this bug to LibreOffice in the past and nothing was ever done - it persists.

Can't say what the exact problem is with your dialogs; they look fine to me, and I've not had any issues in the past. Your description does not describe anything.

Using the stock Ubuntu packages for 15.10, which for Kubuntu includes the package libreoffice-kde, which gives the kde plasma look to the dialogs.

You can try uninstalling this to see if LOs stock file picker works better? I doubt it, as the whole ui becomes ugly
There are also different libreoffice-style packages to try, though I am not sure if these alone provide any modifications to the file dialogs.
There are packages that add some different desktop integration that may look better, such as libreoffice-gtk:

    and possibly libreoffice-gtk3

There is aslo a setting somewhere to force the use of stock Libreoffice dialogs

You can refrain from posting bugs, sure. But none here or in Kubuntu-land will likely be able to do anything a bout it, especially if we are not experiencing the same thing you are. Yes, filing bugs is annoying, and in a huge project like LO, it is easy to overlook reports, especially the many that are not very clear, or missing something helpful.

It could simply be the Desktop/Color Theme he is using. LO is written with a different library, yes?

Same here, with two of my collegues having the same problems.
It's probably not Libre's fault since Chromium und Skype show the same errors.

Here's what Chromium's Save-As Dialog looks like (had to pixelate a customers name, that's not a bug )

        And that's Libre:

        Skype is sometimes broken, too.

Does anyone know what to do?

        Thanks for your help,
        Thomas

Kinda hard to describe the total mess the file dialog was. Note the past tense.

I booted Libreoffice just now to get a screen shot of what was happening and the file dialog works fine now. Did the updates that I downloaded and installed Yesterday fix the problem

Well I'll just have to wait and see. Past experience with the LibreOffice file dialog indicates to me maybe, then again maybe not. For me at least the LibreOffice file dialog has a long history of being flaky - working for a few weeks and then suddenl after some updates it will exhibit strange behavior, e.g., refusing to open files or show some directories. Other weird behavior for which I cannot even remember the details. So I'll just have to see if it is stable this time.

I always install libreoffice-gtk and remove libreoffice-kde. Yes I lose kde file dialog but also I am freed from of all file dialog and theming bugs libreoffice-kde introduces.
