    Recommend the best foss-programmable router?

    Hello, all,

I'm ready to install a new cable modem and want to get a foss programmable router. What is the consensus of the best one? I know that the LinkSys WRT54?? was the best some years ago. Now I see that the WRT54GL available; is this the best contemporary such router?

I'll appreciate any help you can provide. Thanks.

The "L" designation means that the firmware is Linux. This is the router I had before I retired and moved to Minnesota. It's a very good router IMO.

If you want more up to date hardware for wireless -N and AC, there are these

I am sure other brands have good support for open firmware, but Linksys seems to be the most popular.

        I have a TP-LINK WDR3600, which runs OpenWrt and DD-WRT perfectly.

The answer depends on your budget I suppose, the WDR3600 is $50:
