Hi everyone,
I have many years of headless linux experience but recently i decided to move to linux for desktop too and I went for kubuntu. Now I'm facing a serious problem, I want to search files inside my external hard drives (which I have a lot !) and of course indexing files inside each of them is ridiculous as their content change during day while connected to other devices and its just a waste of time and also nearly impossible to index them each time !
Now i find out that kde file search only works if I enable file indexing for the drive, so I tried to test other utilities with GUI but haven't got any success. Tracker, Recoll, ... are not going to search anything before indexing the drive and google didn't help much either. So the question is simple : "Is there any app (of course with gui, I know how to use commands) for searching files without needing to index the drive first ?"
Waiting for your answers, thx in advance
