    Evolution installation failure

I was happily using KMail until my employer stopped IMAP and now uses only Exchange. The only Linux mail client I can find that has an option to use Exchange is Evolution (with the -ews add-on). So I am keen to install it. But I have tried repeatedly to install without success. I have also looked at and tried advice on various Linux help sites, but to no avail.

After the latest day of attempts, here's what I get when I try to start it from the konsole:

(evolution:3083): Gtk-WARNING **: Failed to register client: GDBus.Errorrg.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name org.gnome.SessionManager was not provided by any .service files

    (evolution:3083): GLib-GIO-ERROR **: Settings schema 'org.gnome.evolution.shell.network-config' is not installed

If I try to start it from the application launcher it just dies without trace.

    Has anyone got any ideas?

    Thanks in advance, Mike.

Not a solution, but I have used Zimbra in the past with success...

Looks like you'll need several parts of Gnome to run evolution. (Lots of people don't like gnome 3, but I bet most of us had one look when it came out and recoiled and have stayed clear since.) You might have to install gnome to be sure of getting the bits you need. And then, when running KDE, you may need some gnome daemons running to use evolution with KDE. From google I see people have been successful with KDE 4.

Thanks for the 2 suggestions from Oshunluvr and jlittle. As regards zimbra, I would be happy to try it but it only seems available in 64 bit versions. I am using 32 bit Kubuntu 14.04 and I assume that the 64 bit version of zimbra would be incompatible. I have tried installing some gnome stuff but (a) it didn't resolve the problem and (b) it slowed my pc down to a snail's pace, so I got rid of it. Thanks again, Mike.
