As previously noted, 15.04 (on my clean installation on a netbook) does not accept the Dropbox icon, which provides fairly important information about a running Dropbox daemon (I hope I used the right term there!). This is painful, but for now I can work around it. It is reported that a fix is in the works.
Now I'm finding another such program, even more dependent upon access to a system tray icon, cannot place its icon in the 15.04 system tray. This time, it's a showstopper. Until this is fixed, I cannot upgrade my desktop. The program is Synergy, which allows linking of multiple computers to a single keyboard and mouse (very handy!).
Apparently other programs have similar issues with the 15.04 system tray - including Skype. So this is affecting a lot of folks.
Does anyone know the current status of a general fix for this problem?
