    Kontact Reports that Akonadi in not Operational

    Currently since installing Beta 2, Kontact no longer works. I get the following response.

    Kontact.jpg

    I am wondering if anyone else if having trouble with Kontact. If I am the only one with this problem, I could load the akonadi-selftest-report if that helps.

    I get the same thing on Vivid. The error looks like this:

      If you have no cups installed, use another example from the directory.

      I found it there:

        I am glad that you have been able to get Kontact to work. However, for my system the code you suggested did not lead to Kontact working.

        I am surprised that on Vivid's System Settings there is no entry for Akonadi as in Utopic System Settings > Personal Information.

          Can you please post the ouput from:

          Code:
           [FONT=monospace][COLOR=#000000]systemctl status apparmor.service[/COLOR][/FONT]
          Is there a line similar:
          Code:
           [FONT=monospace][COLOR=#000000]AppArmor-Parser-Fehler f?r /etc/apparmor.d/usr.sbin.mysqld-akonadi in /etc/apparmor.d/usr.sbin.mysqld-akonadi in Zeile 31: 'local/usr.sbin.mysqld-akonadi' konnte nicht ge?ffnet werden[/COLOR][/FONT]
          I think, i restarted the service after the change with
          Code:
          systemctl restart apparmor.service

            Here is what I get using systemctl
            Code:
             [FONT=monospace][COLOR=#000000]:~$ systemctl status apparmor.service [/COLOR]

            I issued the command
            Code:
            systemctl restart apparmor.service
            and that did not change the situation, ie Kontact gave the same response as in my initial post.

            Today I will be flying from the UK to Australia, so I am sorry that I will not be able to respond to any requests for about 2 days.

                  I have always hated Akonadi. Why should you need such a hugely complicated beast just to run e-mail? Still not working for me with today's updates and after trying everything here.

                    The problem is still present despite recent updates. Have you found any solution?

                      Same problem here with 15.04, fully updated. A shame really, i like Kmail but have to use Thunderbird.
                      It will get resolved eventually i hope.
                      My life does not depend on it so it is not a huge problem, just a hassle.
                      I did purge Kmail and deleted any reference in the ~/. folders i could find, to Akonadi and then re-installed Kmail, but the result was the same.

                        I experienced the same problem with Kontact after doing "apt-get dist-upgrade" yesterday.

                        In the mysql error logs I see this line

                        InnoDB: The log sequence numbers xxx and xxx in ibdata files do not match the log sequence number xxx in the ib_logfiles

                        I removed the two files
                        ~/.local/share/akonadi/db_data/ib_logfile0
                        and ~/.local/share/akonadi/db_data/ib_logfile1

                        Now Akonadi starts. And it seems no mails are lost

                              That did the trick! Thanks!
