14.04.2/14.10/15.04 Beta 2-All Not Working?

Hi,

I have a major problem with 14.04.2, 14.10, and 15.04 Beta 2.
It this bug which renders all the Kubuntus unusable.
Hope it is fixed soon or I will have to look for another O.S.

Are you running with an encrypted file system, an NVIDIA graphics card/chip, and uvesafb? If so, then you've encountered the unsupported NVIDIA + uvesafb situation explained in comment #3.

I can't get Kubunto 15.4 going after trying an update which failed, I did a complete install from DVD. I get to the login screen, then login fails. Funny thing is that after going to command line I installed gnome and it works. Thought it was a fglrx issue, but not sure.

Hope this gets resolved. I really do not like using Gnome Desktop

PS - By fails I mean screen goes black with cursor visible,, can only get to logout screen. All the software like konsole and dolphin work from Gnome though

I'll ask again: is your system configured similarly to the one in the bug report? If not, then you're experiencing a different issue.

No, not using encrypted fie system, not using nvidia, but ATI/AMD. Get login screen, takes password, desktop will not show. Gnome does work

Then you aren't experiencing the problem as described in LP #1386005. I asked for clarification because such details matter. I hope someone with AMD graphics experience can help you here.
