error when installing from usb stick

No matter what I try, I can't get by this error. I can get the usb stick to boot. I see the kubuntu splash screen but I keep getting this error:

I'm trying to install the plasma 5 iso.

Starting uuid geeaor uudd /etc/rc2.d/S02sddm: 4 ,:
Can't oen /lib/init/init-d-scrip saned disabled; edit/etc/default/saned

Anybody have this issue or knows how to fix it?

On the USB, locate /etc/default/saned and edit it (as root). Verify that it looks like this:

# Defaults for the saned initscript, from sane-utils

# Set to yes to start saned
RUN=no

# Set to the user saned should run as
RUN_AS_USER=saned

I had the same error and I solved(Google)

When the error appears go to a TTY(Ctrl + Alt + F1) and run the next command
sudo killall Xorg
Then press Ctrl + Alt + F7(Return to X)

And you will see the login screen leave the password field empty.

I assume you did the usual MD5 integrity check in the download?
Have you tried with another iso, like the regular Kubuntu?

Yes, I've checked downloaded file and other iso's work like 14.10 plasma 4 works fine. It's just plasma 5 that is giving me issues

Same problem here. And since I can't use USBs to boot then I can't edit the files.

Rather frustrating considering I have to burn discs and then wait for them to boot up.

Just to note, the saned thing has zero to do with it not loading. That is just the last thing that was going on, is all.

How long are we waiting before giving up? How much ram do you have ? For the 3 times I've installed via the plasma 5 iso, the Plymouth splash screen did disappear, pausing at that saned step, but eventually I got to the installer. It was not long on my old laptop with the ssd and 4gb ram, but on the other laptop with same specs other than a 5400 rpm spinning drive and 2gb ram, it did sit a short while,

If you are using a DVD, it may just be trying to load and unload things from the disk as it goes through the boot process.

Can I surmise that, having a system that can't boot to USB, that you also have a lower amount of ram?

I had the same problem so instead installed 14.10 plasma 4 from my USB stick then upgraded to plasma 5 using the sudo commands given on Kubuntu website.
