Unable to install Security update

Hi in the last week I've been unable to update with Muon and keep getting:

linux-image-extra-3.16.0-31-generic
subprocess installed post-removal script returned error exit status 1

Am trying to get my browsers patched for that vulnerability that's been uncovered recently but am having no luck.

An ideas ?

Do it from the console: sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
