    Scan wireless networks?

Under 12.04, there was a scan function that would show all detected wireless networks. That seems to be missing on 14.04. I've read a lot about "network-manager," but I cannot find it anywhere on my Kickoff Application Launcher, although "locate" shows lots of files with those words in their names. Is there a way to scan wireless networks in 14.04, and if so, can someone point me at it? Many thanks.

      Hi, Snowhog,
That looks great, but I've never seen the screen you posted. How does one get to that from the desktop? When I go into Network Settings, the closest I come to that is under "Service Discovery," but it looks nothing like your screen. Is there somewhere else in System Settings that I should be looking?

Don't you have the Network Management icon in your system try?

your network manager is in the same place it was in 12.04 ,,,,,the system tray.

          point at the network icon

          it's showing my conection

click it ......and you will see available connections..............................

clicking the green circle arrow will refresh the list of available connections

you can scan from the command line with
          Code:
          sudo iwlist scan
          Code:
          vinny@vinny-Bonobo-Extreme:~$ sudo iwlist scan

(Vinny, on the right of your screenshots, you have a monitor for temps, CPU, etc. What program/widget are you using? I have lm-sensors, but it's basic, not showing fan speeds, not much of a display, actually.)

                Snowhog,
I did not have Network Management in the system tray. (I never knew it existed.) Now it's there. I thank everyone for the help.
