It's a rainy Saturday, so why not see if I can break something.
kubuntu-devel-release-upgrade was installing, then stalled at the prompt asking about a new /etc file for dhclient. I said install the new version and then .... nothing but an empty upgrade window.
Time for a massive re-do like some other systems? Nah. Opened konsole and ran aptitude update. I followed the suggestion to run dpkg-configure -a, and that did its thing, starting where it left off with the dhclient file prompt. Configure, configure, done.
Rebooted and all is good. A little /etc/apt maintenance for Virtualbox (host) and PPAs, re-remove stuff pulled in by kubuntu-desktop, done.
I don't know how the Kubuntu maintainers could make it any faster or easier to upgrade. Well, short of going to a rolling release.
Time to re-read the Plasma 5 threads and see if I dare.
