kubuntu 14.04

I am using Kubuntu 14.04 and Firefox 54.0+build3-0ubuntu. This was loaded from the standard repository. Suddenly I now get a Windows Warning alert that will not go away until I uninstall Firefox. Chromium works all right. Googling the Alert issue gets a lot documentation on the problem which says it is adware, but is documented only for Windows. I can find nothing about this coming up in Linux. Re-installing Firefox brings back the issue.

Does anyone know what is happening? Ask me questions and I will supply whatever additional information I can.

Well, what exactly is the "Windows Warning alert" you are seeing? What does it say?

Sounds like you got an Adware or Redirect issue in your browser. Purge Firefox and delete all you user info related to Firefox (cache, etc.) or possible look for a Firefox Add-On that will do it for you.
