    strange problem

Fully updated Kubuntu 14.04. Having strange ghosting of items. IE, the boxes showing what is running on the low panel are showing twice. one is partially to the left and underneath the other. right now showing firefox and thunderbird. Behind these there is a ghosted thunderbird, Have tried disabling translucency in desktop effects. Tried a couple different windows decorations. No change. Whatever is behind the menu shows through when I click the K. I am 90% sure this is a setting somewhere, ut haven't been able to track it down.

Video is Nvidia 610GT 2Gb, with 2 27" monitors attached

Note: this does not happen in windows 7, so not a hardware issue.

    Possibly relevant info
    Code:

Tried to install newest nvidia through software and updates -> additional drivers but it reverted to Noveau. Would like to use newest stable nvidia driver

sounds like you have 2 panels running try removing it/one of them ,,,,if their was only one and now you have none ,,,,,,rite click the desk top add panel>default panel

strange "driver manager" usually works what happens if you use "apt-get" ?

It was a second panel. Removed panels til nothing was on the bottom, then added a default panel and all looks fine now. I knew another point of view would probably solve it.

one time I had 4 panels going at once ,,,,,,,,I assumed that clicking add default panel would add it to a different screen edge and not on top of a running panel ,,,,,,but default ,,,,is default,,,,,as in default location as well.

yup 4 clicks before I realized what was happening
