3 upgrades to the same kernel in a month? [3.13.0-46 on kubuntu 14.04, 64bit]

    Hi,

What happens with this kernel: 3.13.0-46 (kubuntu 14.04, 64bit)?
In last 10 days or so, did upgrade 3 times to the... same kernel: 3.13.0-46.
And at least 2 times there were 50MB&+ of kernel files to download! I was used with KB, not MB when kernels upgraded.
And same things happened on both laptops I have kubuntu 14.04 on, laptops used by different persons, so I would exclude a contamination with don't know what. And besides, both systems work like a charm.

Has anybody an idea of what happens? Did anybody else experienced the same thing? At least, is it benignant?
    Thanks,

The kernel upgrades were 'minor' sub-point changes. Note that they were -46.75, -46.76, and -46.77.
Windows no longer obstructs my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.

      I see it just now: 3.13.0-46.75, Friday ...46.75 & ...46.76, and today only ...46.76.
I see but don't understand a thing. What does all this mean?
Why do appear two kernel variants (...46.75 & ...46.76) in the Friday update? In the same update!
But now, with this small difference (75 to 76) I start to believe it is benignant.

Thanks Snowhog, just added my post while you was adding yours. So, all should be fine.

They aren't kernel variants. They are in fact kernel upgrades; minor upgrades, but upgrades none the less.

            Changelogs

            man apt-get:

changelog downloads a package changelog and displays it through sensible-pager.... By
default it displays the changelog for the version that is installed. However, you can specify the

            Ubuntu Security Notice USN-2516-3
            March 04, 2015

            linux vulnerabilities regression
            ================================================== ========================

A security issue affects these releases of Ubuntu and its derivatives:

            - Ubuntu 14.04 LTS

            Summary:

USN-2516-1 introduced a regression in the Linux kernel.

            Software Description:
            - linux: Linux kernel

            Details:

USN-2516-1 fixed vulnerabilities in the Linux kernel, and the fix in
USN-2516-2 was incomplete. There was an unrelated regression in the use of
the virtual counter (CNTVCT) on arm64 architectures.

            This update fixes the problem.
            We apologize for the inconvenience.

            ...

            Update instructions:

The problem can be corrected by updating your system to the following
            package versions:

            Ubuntu 14.04 LTS:
            linux-image-3.13.0-46-generic 3.13.0-46.77
            linux-image-3.13.0-46-generic-lpae 3.13.0-46.77
            linux-image-3.13.0-46-lowlatency 3.13.0-46.77
            linux-image-3.13.0-46-powerpc-e500 3.13.0-46.77
            linux-image-3.13.0-46-powerpc-e500mc 3.13.0-46.77
            linux-image-3.13.0-46-powerpc-smp 3.13.0-46.77
            linux-image-3.13.0-46-powerpc64-emb 3.13.0-46.77
            linux-image-3.13.0-46-powerpc64-smp 3.13.0-46.77

After a standard system update you need to reboot your computer to make
            all the necessary changes.
