Player/VirtualBox Display Issues - AMD Proprietary Driver?

Player/VirtualBox Display Issues - AMD Proprietary Driver?

    Hi,

    Running Kubuntu 14.04 L.T.S. 64Bit fully updated.
The desktop has: AMD FX CPU, 32GB, AMD Radeon HD 7870 PCIe 2GB GDDR5.
I have successully installed the proprietary AMD 14.6 Beta display driver from AMD site.

I have problems with both current VMWare Player & Oracle VirtualBox.
Both Player & VirtualBox have corrupt displays(blank or flickering) after playing a YouTube video in Google Chrome(natively)?
If I disable 3D hardware acceleration in both Player & VirtualBox, the problem goes away?
(I need 3D hardware acceleration in either Player or VirtualBox)

I've Google'd for hours and have not found a solution.
I realize that the proprietary AMD display drivers are not too good, but there must be something I can do?
(I can't afford to buy an nVidia graphic card at this time)

    Hope someone can help, thanks!

    Hi,

I was running an older beta driver.
When I updated to current non-beta driver the problem was resolved.
