    AVI to MPG converter

Is there a programme under linux that will allow me to convert AVI files to MPG?

    Thank you for your help.

    Hi
yes several that almost all depend upon ffmpeg. Howver ffmpeg has been deprecated. Examples are Video converter and Transmageddon.

I, personally, use Handbrake nowadays, for me the control is much more granular.

I am positive that others will pop in with other suggestions and all of them work pretty well.

No - the Debian and Ubuntu has decided to use the ffmpeg fork libav - earlier: https://www.kubuntuforums.net/showth...v-Winff-ffmpeg

Thank you for all the suggestions. I tried Handbrake but got bogged down with additional material I had to install. Followed the instructions and did an update but it ran into a 404. !!??

I use the snapshot because it has better options, and easier to install . Found here:
