nVidia Proprietary Driver-Recommended Or Updates?

Hi,

Can someone explain the difference between nVidia proprietary display driver recommended and updates?
Is updates updated more frequently than recommended?
(I am talking about Kubuntu 14.04.1 supported nVidia driver in System Settings/Driver Manager)

I use the updates one personally, havent had a problem with them. I think the only difference is the recommended one has had some testing done beforehand.

I'm not sure, but if one has old hardware, I think an older driver might be recommended. My n630a gets the 304 recommended.

i believe the recommended one is a version recommended for given distro and this driver version will always be the same if distro stays the same.
