HTML5 Video[YouTube] Stutters In Google Chrome?

HTML5 Video(YouTube) Stutters In Google Chrome?

    Hi,

    I am using Kubuntu 14.04.1 L.T.S. 64Bit fully updated.
    I am on a fairly fast desktop with Intel Core i5 3GHz 4-core CPU, 8GB DDR3 RAM,
and nVidia GeForce GTS 450 1GB GDDR5 video adapter
with nVidia proprietary display driver version 331.38 installed.

Sometimes when I play a YouTube HTML5 video using current Google Chrome it stutters?
The same video plays 100% perfectly on current Mozilla Firefox.
Please don't tell me Chrome sucks and to use Firefox - I like Chrome as my default browser.

Did some Google'ing and this seems to be a known issue with HTML5 video and Chrome.
I did not find a solution to fix it though so I ask here now.
Anyone know how to fix HTML5 video stutter on Google Chrome?
    ( I am using current stable Chrome version 37.0.2062.120 (64-bit) )

    Thanks!

I don't see it here on my dual core intel graphics desktop.
You can try google-chrome-beta to see if there is a difference - it runs alongside stable chrome without replacing it or anything.

      Hi,

Tried Google Chrome beta version 38 and the YouTube(HTML5 video) stuttering is not occuring.
Ill use the beta for now until the stable one is updated, thanks...

        Hi,

Both Google Chrome stable and beta use quite a bit of CPU when running YouTube(HTML5) videos?
Average CPU utilization is about 30%-40% ?
Mozilla Firefox does not have this problem.

I've seen two methods used to fix this problem:
          1) make sure you are using https://youtube.com/whatever
          2) or, purge Chrome and and reinstall it.

Others have noticed that when they use traceroute on the url of the HTML5 video they see certain servers with abnormally high access times.
