error from KDE Power Management System

I recently installed Kubuntu 14.04. For the most part things are working well but there is one error notification that pops up every single time that I log in that I want to fix:

    KDE Power Management System

KDE Power Management System could not be initialized. The backend reported the following error: No valid Power Management backend plugins are available. A new installation might solve this problem. Please check your system configuration
How do I fix this? upowerd is not running when I look in ps. This is a desktop machine.

    Thanks.

Check System Settings > Startup and Shutdown > Service Manager to see if Power Management is checked. If 'yes', uncheck it and click Apply.
