Spell Check For Applications That Don't Have Spell Check?

    Hi,

I am using Kubuntu 14.04 LTS 64Bit fully updated.
How can I have spell check in applications that don't have spell check?
(I know there must be a way to do the above)
For example, Skype has no spell check - how would I get spell check in Skype?

    Thanks!

I don't know about Skype, I purged it from my system. However, with the following packages I can pretty much have spell checking in everything that doesn't include it.

    Ignore the texliv- package.

      Hi,

I checked my Muon Package Manager.
I have all the packages you showed me installed already.
There are a few applications(most importantly Skype) which don't have spell check.
      Any other ideas?
(I noticed that spell check is not working as I type this reply either)

Krunner has a nice option for this ,,,,,,,, do alt+F2 type "spell" in the drop down box (Krunner) one of the options you will see pop up is "spell check, fast spell checking" ,,,click it .
you will get a box with "ABC" on it ,,,,click it .
A text box window will open and you can spell check in it

          alt+F2 type "spell"

the box with ABC on it .........click it for a text box.

the text box........right clicking the misspelled word

clicking the check button in the lower right of the text box window ,,,,,,,,,,,, useful for checking a hole paragraph before copy and pasting into skype or whatever

Skype simply does not have a spell check built in, nor does it have the capability built in to use an external one.

Now, if you can get Skype to work through kde-telepathy or pidgin , that might get you the ability in a backhanded way

What browser are you using? Spell checking works here in Firefox 31.0, Kubuntu 12.04 as I'm typing this ... interestingly it pulls up "Firefox" as a misspelling!

In Firefox spell checking is turned on by going to Preferences, Advanced, General tab, in Browsing click "Check my spelling as I type".

I was replying to the above in post #3 ... so I was wondering what he was typing the reply in? Maybe I misunderstood (it does happen). Firefox definitely has built-in spell checking ... I don't know about other browsers.

Spell checking 'works' here in KFN when typing posts/replies. If you spell a word that isn't recognized, it will have a red squiggly line under it.
