NVIDIA driver 331.89 not configured correctly

Hello Please help me fix this. I switched from the 340.24 driver since it did't seem to work with Sid Meyers Civilization V for Linux. Now when I run nvidia-settings, nothing is configured. When I run Steam for Linux it says that OpenGL direct rendering is not enabled and when I click play on Civ V, Steam crashes and the game never starts.
    Code:
    steve7233@steve7233-EP45-UD3P:/$ sudo nvidia-settings
    [sudo] password for steve7233:
** Message: PRIME: No offloading required. Abort
** Message: PRIME: is it supported? no

ERROR: nvidia-settings could not find the registry key file. This file should have been installed along with this driver at /usr/share/nvidia/nvidia-application-profiles-key-documentation. The application profiles will
continue to work, but values cannot be preopulated or validated, and will not be listed in the help text. Please see the README for possible values and descriptions
    Some one please help.

BTW: I used the driver utility to switche the driver.
Just to remind users and devs that Ubuntu and its flavors have a long way to go to be as usr friendly as they should be.

          Try apt-get on the commandline:
          Code:
          sudo apt-get install nvidia-331
If that doesn't work, please post the error message here.

I already thought of that. Turns out the game works in windows mode but not in full sceen. Everything else works but that one game. It appears the problem is something other than a driver problem. The game worked in full screen before. Maybe a Steam for Linux update broke something. Since its not a driver problem then this thread isn't going to solve the problem. Thanks for trying.
