hehe. That presents the idea of a new option for apt-get (and maybe dpkg): --exorcise.
Code:[B]exorcise[/B] exorcise is identical to remove except that packages are cast out (any configuration files are cast out too) and all remaining files Blessed.
Windows no longer obstructs my view.

If I had as much trouble as you with Gimp, I would have done a re-install of 14.04 to save time and to see if the problem persisted. If you were to do this, it would have given you a great time to - exorcise
