hdmi sound suddenly not working

Hi,

I have been using kubuntu 14 for almost a year now. After a little tweaking i got my hdmi sound working. My laptop is connected to a surround receiver with a hdmi cable.

My hardware:

Intel Corporation 8 Series/C220 Series Chipset High Definition Audio Controller.

Months pass and no problem what so ever. But the other day i dualbooted into windows (i do this all the time, but never use the hdmi sound output in windows)..and this time
i did use the hdmi sound output. It worked. But when i booted up kubuntu. My sound was gone. When i open up pulseaudio volume control it says that my hdmi
is (unplugged). Which is not the case. For some reason using hdmi sound in windows has messed up something.


Any thoughts on this matter?

after several reboots. and playing another movie in windows. shutdown the receiver. then booting up linux again i finally got me sound back. very strange.
