Ugh, a Realtek interface. Google has pointed me to numerous reports of issues just like yours -- the interface seems to start slower than others. I was unable to find any consistent solution.

You could try building a driver from Realtek's web site. Here's a page with instructions. It's a little old, so file names might have changed, but I suspect the basic framework is correct. You might also Google for "r8169 ubuntu driver" or something similar.

Can;t offer any technical help but I have the same hardware. I did a clean install of 15.04 and the card etc was recognised right from the start.
Sometimes when logging in I do have to enter my router password but otherwise no problems. Restart from suspend is immediate.

      Code:

Looks like this was the cause of the problem. I installed new driver and it is ok so far. I have waited so long to make sure that the problem will not reappear. It hasn't.
        Thank you Steve.
